Press release, by Tab Media Group
Peggy Wirgau’s “The Stars in April,” took home first place in the children’s/young adult category of the 2022 Southern Christian Writers Conference Notable Book Awards.
The winners were announced Saturday, June 22, during the 2022 Southern Christian Book Expo. The 2022 expo was hosted via Facebook, and the award ceremony was hosted in-person at the TAB Media Group building in Homewood, Alabama.
“The Stars in April” is based on the true story of 12-year-old Titanic survivor, Ruth Becker. The daughter of missionaries in India, Ruth, along with her brother and mother, boarded the Titanic to make the journey to New York where her brother would receive medical treatment. The trip should’ve been a predictable, four-week voyage across the world. But as history shows, it was nothing like anyone imagined.
